Our mission is to make astrology accessible to everyone

When you know your birth chart, you know your personal power and life’s potential. You come face to face with your best self and your growth edges. And through it, you gain a clearer understanding of who you are, where you've been, and where you're headed.

Being witnessed in this way not only clarifies our complexities and desires; it helps us better understand and prepare for the challenges we face. Astrology is not therapy, but it is therapeutic. It’s a relentless reminder that we are the way that we are on purpose.

Our aim is to give folks the astrological tools they need to feel seen, feel safe, and heal. Because when you have the right resources, it’s a whole lot easier to unlock your calling and be of service to the world.

CHANI is a queer, feminist-led team that is proudly not VC-funded. We believe in promoting economic justice from the inside out and that good business prioritizes personal wellbeing. That’s why no one on our team is paid less than $80k before benefits and each of our employees is offered fully covered health, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) with a 5% match; unlimited menstrual leave; gender-based violence paid and protected leave; unlimited PTO with a vacation stipend; a wealth-building stipend; and a four-day workweek.

Built by astrologers, invested in survivors

All of our content is written and recorded by Chani Nicholas and our team of professional astrologers. We also partner with FreeFrom, which means we donate 5% of all company revenue and 100% of the proceeds from all CHANI x Gifted by FreeFrom products directly to queer, trans, Black, Indigenous, people of color, and/or disabled survivors of gender-based violence via freefrom.org. To date, we’ve generated over $2.5 million for survivors.

Chani Nicholas is a New York Times best-selling author and astrologer with a community of over one million monthly readers. She has been a counseling astrologer for more than 20 years, guiding people to discover and live out their life’s purpose through understanding their birth chart. She has been featured in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone, the New Yorker, the Atlantic, and multiple Netflix series. And yes, she is our namesake.

Sonya Passi is an entrepreneur, an anti-violence advocate, and the reason the CHANI app became profitable on day one of its launch. Under her leadership, the company has transformed from a simple blog to a media hub for self-discovery, mindfulness, and healing with over 3.5 million readers. She’s also set the standard for what it means to be human-centered in the tech world, leading the company in a zero-AI policy and establishing industry-defining employee initiatives focused on economic justice.
